As part of the community supported agriculture scheme (CSA) our goal is to create a food and skills sharing community, connecting people with the land and how produce is grown in an eco friendly way. One of the ways we do this is through our volunteering days.
Thursday is volunteer day, the gate is open from 11am to 1pm, We run through the summer holidays but times may be different! We also run a monthly session on a Sunday 11am to 1pm and we run an after school club session one Thursday a month 4pm to 5.30pm. Those that would like to take part in volunteering at the farm need to sign up as a member and will need to have signed the work safety sheet.
Please bring with you suitable footwear, sun hat, sun screen, gardening gloves, water bottle (we have a tap for refilling) and lunch or snacks.
We start the sessions off by feeding and checking the animals, collecting eggs and checking on the wormery. We then carry out a task, this varies throughout the season, from sowing seeds, planting out, wood chipping, harvesting, making bug hotels, willow weaving and much more!
There is always lots to be done on the farm and we welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities! Previous volunteers know it’s a lot of fun! We try to find projects that suit the volunteers, you are under no obligation to do any activity, you are welcome to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
